With the largest canvas to date—John Wick: Chapter 4—he was able to craft a musical tapestry that is as vast and exotic as the criminal universe that director Chad Stahelski has built. 

We had the opportunity to talk with sound editor Stoeckinger, who has received three Oscar nominations, 

about some of the fun and challenges of this most recent chapter in the always expanding Wick series. 

Beneath the Line: Could you briefly describe what a supervising sound editor does, Beneath the Line: Could you briefly describe what a supervising sound editor does, 

in your own words?Mark Stoeckinger: I'll explain it the way I see it since I believe that every person approaches their work differently and that the needs of each film vary.  

In essence, I work with the filmmakers (that is, of course, the director and often the picture editor as well) to take their vision, 

the story they are trying to tell, and make the sound as representative as possible in order to accomplish that.
